Project Glass: Google's glasses are almost ready!

Sometimes the rumours turn out to fall well short of reality. Google's forthcoming display glasses appear to belong in that category, judging at least by the video it has released.

The video shows the world through the eyes of someone wearing the glasses while walking around Manhattan: receiving instant updates, messaging a friend, automatically learning that the subway is not running while seeing an alternative route to their destination, checking in at a location, or using voice commands to add a note to their calendar.

If Google's glasses really offer these capabilities, we may well forget all about smartphones and tablets!
